In this Marketing Program Re-boot classes, and in genera, what is being said about Newspaper Advertising? I know that in Halifax County especially, many citizens do not have access to internet and social media from home, and they do rely strongly on their newspapers to know what businesses are doing what, and what the local news is. Also, most newspapers, both papers in Halifax County in particular are small businesses themselves. I would like to understand why small businesses are pushed so much to advertise on giant social media conglomerates and online, when there are great ways to advertise in print, as well as supporting another small business at the same time.

We believe that newspapers play an even more important role right now and another tool in the toolbox for marketing. It is covered as a component of your marketing plan, for sure! Ilsa can speak to the importance of traditional media in reaching citizens for awareness of key resources in the community.

Just a thought- (and not to be pushy about the newspaper, but it is my job…) in regards to the banner ads, if you aren’t a “fan” of running in your actual newspaper, you should consider advertising on the newspaper’s website. They drive traffic through social media outlets to their website, in the form of their stories, but newspapers do offer advertising in those digital stories as well.
